Summit specializes in handcrafted log homes, timber frame homes, milled log cabins, and outdoor structures, such as pavilions, gazebos, pergolas, covered decks, entryways, and other custom timber features.
What is the difference between handcrafted and milled log homes?
Handcrafted log homes are built using individually selected logs that retain their natural shape and character. Each log is carefully fitted by hand, creating a highly customized and traditional appearance.
Milled log homes use precision-milled logs that are manufactured to consistent sizes and profiles. This provides a more uniform appearance while maintaining the warmth, strength, and character of log construction.
Do you provide design services?
Yes. We collaborate with experienced design professionals, including Streamline Design Ltd., to create a custom log or timber home tailored to your lifestyle and vision. From concept development to final construction drawings, we help ensure every project is thoughtfully planned before construction begins.
How do I get started with my project?
The first step is a conversation. We’ll discuss your goals, property, preferred building style, and overall vision for the project. From there, we can begin developing concept plans, refining the design, and guiding you through the planning and construction process. Our team is available to assist at every stage, from initial ideas through completion.
Do you offer turnkey and lock-up construction packages?
Together with our partners, we offer a range of construction options to suit different project goals and levels of involvement. Whether you’re looking for a complete turnkey solution or a lock-up package that allows you to complete portions of the project yourself, we can tailor an approach that fits your needs.
What wood species do you use?
We work primarily with Western Red Cedar and Douglas Fir for handcrafted log homes, timber frame structures, and post and beam projects.
For milled log homes, we primarily use Spruce, with Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar also available depending on the project requirements.
What areas do you serve?
Summit Log & Timber Homes serves clients throughout Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and the Pacific Northwest. We also work with clients across North America and internationally, depending on the scope and requirements of the project.
Do you ship log and timber packages?
Yes. Summit ships log and timber packages throughout Canada, the United States, and internationally. Shipping logistics are coordinated as part of the project planning process to ensure materials arrive safely and efficiently.
